Xmas rant

Okay, so we are getting dangerously close to christmas now, and Xmas related stories are starting to appear in the papers.

Well... I have come across a classic example, that made me laugh hysterically, and run for the toilet in an attempt to not piss myself laughing.

An official in Lambeth Council (UK) has decided to not call its 'Christmas light' Christmas lights in case it offended members of the communities of other religions.

Although I subscribe to no faith, I find this completely offensive, and totally ridiculous. Hearing about other faiths does not offend me at all!

I am slightly confused by the fact we live in a country that preaches religious tolerence, and the celebration of any religious event is deemed offensive.

Where your frosties come from

Adverts... arggh

As I am ranting on the subject of adverts, here is another example of moronic advertising.

Vicks first defense

"Because attack is the best form of defense"

Apparently a pre-emptive strike on all of your enemies is the best way to go, and Proctor and Gamble (the maker of Vicks) seem to be pushing that idea in a subconcious message.

tinfoil hat
Is it a way of the large corporations trying to subvert the US government, by slowly taking control of Bush using TV? (could explain the Iraq war) ...No
/tinfoil hat

This is yet another reason all advertising executives should be shot.

118 118 has it all - including bad grammar

rant
now I've seen it all... the new 118 118 ad is out, and is helpfuller than ever.

I dont know if I am the only person bothered by this... nobody even cares!

Okay, here is my beef (if you didnt already crack it): the word helpfuller. What the hell is that? There is no such word as helpfuller!

I see this as the next step to the incorrectly spelled English words, of which there are numerous examples. I often see references to SKOOL and KIDZ more often than not, the content is aimed at children, or at least kidz .(did you see what I did there?)
To me, this seems to be the advertising, and content delivery services trying to be cool, and possibly reach out to the younger generation.
