Pretec compactGPS mod page 2

I chose the MAX3232 as is has built in diodes and is a very small package. this is the minimal wiring chip.
MAX3232CPE specification: 3.3v - 5v RS232 converter 2x input lines 2x output lines 16pin DIL
This is a very small SMT package. It have supplied enough power to run the rig.

unfortunately it wasnt to be so. It occasionally overheats. I have had to rig a small headsink into it.

MAX604 specification 3.3v Regulator input from 2.7v to 11.5v 8 pin SMT package
